European Youth Congress 2009
25th July – 1st August 2009 :: Izola, Slovenia
The European Youth Congres 2009 (EYC09), entitled Challenge, Suggest, Act!, is a response to the growing young people’s apathy in Europe. Besides trying to teach the right approach to criticism, the Congress will enlight a n area that has always been concealed and considered as a taboo topic – the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities (YPFO) in decision-making processes. As the YPFOs are considered to be all young people that have had difficulties to integrate in the society due to their background (mental or physical disability, ethnical or difficult family background, socio-economical status, sex orientation, criminal past, being an early school dropper, living in a remote area etc.), the event will raise awareness about this specific group of young people that amount to the number of 73 million in the European Union.
4th World Youth Congress
The 4th World Youth Congress, designed to promote and celebrate youth-led development, will bring together 600 of the world’s most dynamic young people from over 100 countries to Québec City in August 2008.
United Games members were successful with their applications: There will be about 20 participants from 6 United Games-countries going to Québec.

“Seeking Excellence in Youth Participation at a Local Level”
United Games International joined Peace Child International, our long term partner organisation, in an international project to write a book on best practise on youth participation on a local level. This international book project was supported by the European Commission in Brussels and was scheduled to run for about two years. A German translation of the booklet is now available since September 2007.
Faith in Europe
Peace Child International (together with United Games Partners) is leading a youth-led project promoting discussions about what kind of Europe young people want to live in. The project addresses diversity, growth, integration, and common values. The magazine was published in March 2007!
It’s Your Turn! – European Youth Congress 2007
The European Youth Congress on youth-led (development) projects – titled “IT’S YOUR TURN!” took place between August 5th and 12th in Mürzzuschlag, Austria.
About 60 young participants from all over Europe, each of them either experienced or highly motivated in carrying out projects on (sustainable) development, human rights, art and culture took part in the congress. The projects are now carried out by the participants in their home countries. During the congress a huge variety of workshops were offered, where young people could attain the necessary skills for their projects and for themselves.
About 20 participants of the European Youth Congress were successful with their application to join the 4th World Youth Congress in Québec City in August 2008.
