The United Games of Nations 2008 take place in the Jugenddorf
Müggelsee. There are several things that need to be prepared in order
to guarantee an interesting festival for every participant. That is why
we wrote this list, to help you preparing your delegation for the week
in Berlin.
- The main language at the UG Festival is English. It is important that every participant is able to speak and understand English. (Of course, nobody expects the participants to speak perfectly)
- The participants will sleep in bungalow at the lake Müggelsee. Everyone will need a sleeping-bag
and a pillow (in case you are willing to carry one on your trip). Even
in the middle of June the nights in Germany can be very cold. We
recommend to bring an extra blanket additionnally to the sleeping bag.
- Unfortunately we did not yet manage to order constat good weather during our festivals, so please also bring warm clothes and a waterresistent jacket for rainy days. Be prepared for all possible kinds of weather.
- There will be free drinks (water) in the camp but we ask every participant to bring a cup AND a drinking bottle on his own.
- During the Opening-Performance we ask every participating country to perform a small presentation,
introducing your country to the other participants. The content of your
presentation is only limited by your creativity but it should not take
more than 5 minutes. Also, we would love to see you in traditionally
typical clothing but definitely bring a FLAG from your country.
- As every year we will have the famous “European Dinner” which will be on Tuesday. We ask every delegation to bring some typical food of their country
to have a large buffet of all the countries present at the festival.
You will not have much time to prepare/cook the food in a kitchen
before the European Dinner so please try to prepare as much as possible
beforehand. Also, please keep in mind that the European Dinner is on
the 2nd day of the festival which means that the food needs to be quite
durable. We ask you to bring with you everything you need for your
meal, especially local specialities like spices or things like that. If
it is really needed we will have the possibility to buy things for you
that have to be fresh like fruits or meat but we cannot guarantee that
we will get everything you need here. Please let us know about such
needs on your first day of arrival.
- Participants will have the chance to swim in the lake during the day, so please bring swimming clothes and, for participants under the age of 18, a swimming permission from your parents.
We hope you’ll have a week of fun and make a whole lot of new experiences here in Berlin and we are looking forward to meeting you all.
