Dear friends,
As you may have heard, the 10th anniversary of UG
India is going to be celebrated in autumn. First it looked like that
only "legends", who contributed a lot to the development of UG India,
were invited, but now also young people can come to Bangalore. In some
parts their program will be a little bit different, but all in all
there's an action week again.
It will take place from Oct 23rd to Nov 9th 2007, as it looks like
now, arrival and departure in Chennai (Madras), details will follow.
So,
if you're interested in going or if you need more information, don't
hesitate to contact us, the Indians would like to know who's coming
latest in mid-August. Also you need time to prepare, especially the
necessary vaccinations take some time.
I was last year in Bangalore and I can only recommend it. It was a
great experience, a very warm welcome, not as scary as it sometimes
seems and a memory I won't forget. I don't know yet how the program
will look like this year, but for example we started with a few
acclimatisation days at the wonderful beaches of Mahabalipuram (you
will be able to pronounce it) and then spent some time at Ariwu/Peace
Child/United Games India office in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (more
difficult) in Bangalore and on the countryside (I'll always forget the
name), where we were working in schools, building, painting, playing,
unfortunately for the kids there also singing. What I want to say is,
and I can only repeat myself: Go! Do it as soon as you can somehow
afford it concerning time and money (flight, travel money, I needed
about 1000€), it's worth it.
So, let us know how the idea sounds to you, so long,
Romed
